Wu Yueshi: Spirit of Chinese painting lies in seeing the whole

      The basis of Western paintings is composition. But what about Chinese paintings? Wu Yueshi believes that what he calls "momentum" is fundamental. He argues that developing as a traditional Chinese painter requires not only learning, but also nurturing. Ultimately, he says, the unique spirit of Chinese paintings is found in momentum and "taste."
