John Ross: 'Stupid to call BRI a debt trap'

      John Ross, former director of economic and business policy for the mayor of London, said it's "very stupid" to call the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) a "debt trap" since every company that wants to grow big needs to borrow money. Ross was speaking at a symposium last week organized by China's think tank Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China, where political leaders and scholars worldwide gathered to discuss the global benefits of the BRI.
