What is democracy and how to evaluate it?

      Rising inflation, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and disturbances in the Asia-Pacific, today's challenges are raising concerns about ideological confrontations between Western-style democracy and the rest. But what is democracy? What do we expect from democracy? And how should democracy be promoted in different societies with different cultures? Scholars, policymakers and multilateral institution leaders are invited to try to find solutions to today's democracy dilemma. They are: Michele Geraci, former under-secretary of state of the Ministry of Economic Development of Italy; Professor Ma Liang from the School of Public Administration and Policy of Renmin University of China; Zoon Ahmed Khan, research fellow at the Center for China and Globalization; Jayanath Colombage, former chief of the Sri Lanka Navy and Helga Zepp-LaRouche, founder and president of the Schiller Institute.
